My last week in New York flew by. I got lots of research done, including a tour of one of the hospitals where Michael works—and where one of my characters stays. It's amazing what being in the actual place triggers. I'll write more about Setting in a later post. I'll also be posting more pictures from New York (as requested).
For now, I'm happy to be home, even if I'm missing New York, Greg, Michael, Jupiter and Jetson, and the new friends I made while there.
I'm enjoying watching Bjork: Live at the Royal Opera House right now as I learn the new online tool that SF State is using. Here's one of my favorite quotes in the world. It comes from a song called It's Not Up to You from Bjork's genius (in my opinion) album Vespertine.
If you wake up
And the day feels
Ah broken
Just lean into the crack
(Just lean into the crack)
And it will tremble
Ever so nicely
Notice
How it sparkles
Down there
This whole performance is utterly fascinating. And beautiful. While being ever-so quirky in that Bjork way.
More Later.
